Cry, My Beloved Country

"The Tragedy is not that things are broken. The Tragedy is that things are not mended again." - Alan Paton author of Cry, The Beloved Country.
The level of underdevelopment in my Country Nigeria has reached an alarming meter. Democracy we all thought was to bring succour and solace to the already deprived populace, but nay, its rather more shams and destruct that abounds. Writing about Nigeria is an emotional feat to say the least, spades of issues too many to talk about. Looking through the journey of democracy, all one could see in its wakes is corruption in its evil glory, thriving and waxing stronger even gaining more fame then "Democracy". Is the Nigerian democracy  corrupt and anti-progressive? Is the Nigerian democracy insensitive and anti-people? Is the Nigerian democracy in-human and barbaric? Is the Nigerian democracy without the rule of law, checks and balances? The big answer is YES!
We live in a democracy where basic social amenities: Power, healthcare, education, potable water, good roads, housing, Labour...and many more which are fundamental human rights of any given society, is seen as a privilege. A country where its leaders are so against agents of change, and are suppressed by the third world mentality. A country where corruption and corrupt leaders are celebrated "mummified" and occupy big offices. A country where probe committees are set up to mock the intelligence of the masses. The rule of law propaganda is unthinkable, probes set up into capital issues are all a farce. Nothing becomes of recommendation or findings of such fallacious probes. Making rounds is the recent fuel subsidy prove scams. How much more Nigeria???

Power for instance, should be privatised; it should be autonomous. Other fast growing economy of the world use raw materials created from their environment to generate energy. Waste management has been key element in power generation by other developed countries. We talk about power year in year out and billions of naira go down the pockets of evil anti-progressive individuals who would rather watch the economy fail and the common man who needs power to earn a living suffer. The job seeker has no hope of gainful employment as manufacturers and investors flee from the cost of generating power. Big cities like Lagos,Portharcourt, Ibadan, which generates high density waste products. I ask, what do they do with these wastes? Can't its own electricity be generated and a cleaner, healthier environment be achieved? And jobs created through its implementation. The government of the day should embrace change  and seek technological advancement.

Over 30,000,000 million youths are unemployed and more joining the labour market on a daily basis, yet the GEJ government has done nothing to assuage these sad and worrisome trend. Our "shoesless" "Fresh air" President is "Clueless". I may not be far from the truth to say that the President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan led government is the most corrupt and dormant leadership Nigeria has ever recorded. What visible remarkable achievement has these government recorded? None!

I am a victim, you are a victim, we all are victims.
